Soli Deo Gloria Defined
“The ultimate end of all God’s works in creation and redemption is his own glory alone.”
God’s glory not some unknown speculation but rather His radiant splendor displayed both in his character and in his works. To glorify God is to reflect or celebrate that radiant splendor of God. Matt. 5:16

We confess and affirm that God is, by his very nature, the highest and most glorious of beings.
God is, by his very nature, the beginning (source) and the end (goal) of all things.
If God were to seek the glory of another, he would be denying his own nature.
Therefore, God must work all things ultimately for his own glory alone!

The Westminster Divines addressed the question of the glory of God and its relevance to man in the first question of the Westminster Shorter Catechism asks, “What is the chief end of man?” The catechism answers, “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.”

We affirm that indeed the chief end (or ultimate purpose) of man is to glorify God! This is why we have chosen the abbreviated axiom SDG for our battle cry. We as a baseball team endeavor to do honor and glorify God in all we do, both on and off the field!

For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. (Romans 11:36)
